Strain Information

Afghan Kush by Straightforward Genetics is a 100% Indica strain that hails from the original landrace genetics of the Hindu Kush mountains. Bred for stability and potency, this feminised photoperiod strain flowers in 8–10 weeks indoors and is ready by late September to early October outdoors in temperate climates. Plants typically grow to a medium height (80–120 cm indoors) and are known for their high yields—500–600g/m² indoors and up to 700g/plant outdoors. Afghan Kush produces deeply calming effects ideal for pain relief, stress reduction, and restful sleep. THC levels generally range from 17% to 21%, with rich trichome coverage making it perfect for hash production.

Growing Information

Afghan Kush is an easy-to-grow, resilient cultivar suited for both novices and seasoned growers. Its structure adapts well to a variety of growing environments, thriving in both soil and hydroponic systems. Indoors, the plants maintain a manageable size while producing dense, resin-rich buds. Outdoors, Afghan Kush prefers a dry, warm climate but can handle cooler conditions due to its mountainous origins. Flowering takes 8–10 weeks, and growers can expect substantial yields of compact, aromatic flowers with minimal fuss.

Flavour Profile

The flavour of Afghan Kush is classic and bold, offering a nostalgic mix of earthy pine, spicy hash, and woody undertones. The aroma is just as traditional, dominated by strong herbal and forest-floor notes. Terpenes such as myrcene, caryophyllene, and pinene define its profile, enhancing its sedative effects while delivering a rich, full-bodied taste that appeals to fans of old-school Indica strains.

Genetics

Afghan Kush is a pure, stabilised Indica landrace derived directly from the Hindu Kush mountain range. This region is one of the oldest and most revered cannabis-producing areas in the world, known for yielding resilient, potent strains. With no hybridisation in its lineage, Afghan Kush offers a genetically consistent experience rooted in centuries of natural selection and traditional cultivation.
